Introduction of the Draft ''Geography Education Program''
On the evening of September 29, the Faculty of Geography, University of Education, Hue University introduced a draft of "Geography Education Program" and a contest on learning about Geography Education Program for all faculty students.
Participated in the event were: Assoc.Prof.Dr. Nguyen Dinh Luyen - Vice Rector, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hoang Son - Dean of the Faculty of Geography and teachers and lecturers who are taking part in studying and teaching Geography in Thua Thien Hue and the central provinces.

According to the Draft, the Education Program of Geography will be implemented throughout the country from 2019 to 2020 to grade 1 of primary school, from 2020 to 2021 to grade 6 of junior high school and from 2021 - 2022 to grade 10 of high school. At the high school level, Geography is one of the subjects chosen according to students' aspirations and career orientations.
The Geography education program will focus on developing quality and capacity of students; streamlined content, basic, modern, practical, attaching importance to integration, practice and usage, ensuring the direction, opening and distribution of career orientation.
The goal of building the program is to inherit the content, renovate the method; It focuses on the student's activities, uses the teaching methods well and works well with the development of students' abilities and qualities (discussion, debate, role play, project, to write reports ...), to use innovative teaching methods (maps, diagrams, statistics tables, charts ...) in direction of organizing students actively combining with advanced methods, providing opportunities for students to work to develop skills, geographic perceptions; To effectively use teaching means and apply information technology.
Prof. Dr. Nguyen Duc Vu - lecturer of Geography Department of the Draft "Geography Education Program" delivered his report
The program will evaluate competency-based, focusing on measuring the level of understanding of basics, practicality, proficiency of the skill, and the manipulation of knowledge, skills and attitudes in order to solve problems in learning situations and practice which focuses on assessing the student's ability to apply knowledge.
After Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Duc Vu - lecturer of Geography Department of the Draft "Geography Education Program" delivered his report, 8 teams from classes under the Faculty of Geography entered the contest on learning about "Geography Education Program”
Each team answered 30 multiple choice questions, each answer takes 15 seconds, each question has 2 points, the maximum score each team can reach is 60 points and finally answered 2 theoretical questions(for all groups, 3 minutes per sentence).
Results: The first prize went to Geography Class 3A, Third prize was rewarded to Geography Class 4B and 5 classes received consolation prize.

On October 2020, Hue University of Education was proud to receive SEAMEO School’s Network certificate in recognition for the University active contribution and participation in that regional network.
